A strange story at the very top of the Caucasian mountains – the apex, pinnacle, vertex.

A family lives in a house that teeters precariously on the very tip of a mountain. The balance of the house is affected not only by the family that lives inside, but also their cow, dog, cat, a passing bird, and a man with a couple of sheep who returns in a car. The slopes of the hill themselves also seem rather slippery at times.

The film was included in the Animation Show of Shows and eventually gathering nearly 70 awards around the film festivals.

Measured MotionEverything flows out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right, is the measure of the swing to the left;
rhythm compensates.

A philosophical doctrine on the transformation of human nature.

The film expresses the concept of Human Unity which is being developed in the experimental city of Auroville, founded on principles of shared leadership, sustainable development and new consciousness. The driving force behind the manifestation of it was Mirra Alfassa, known to her followers as The Mother. Auroville is meant to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. Under the shaping influence of the Mother’s and Sri Aurobindo’s dual philosophies, Auroville emerges as a unique, multi-cultural confluence where matter and spirit, the individual and the collective meet in the search for a higher consciousness.

A poetic cinematic meditation on an extraordinary life without vision.

Gary Tarn explores the story of Hugues de Montalembert, a New York-based artist and filmmaker who was blinded by a vicious, unprovoked attack by two young assailants in 1978. After the attack, Montalembert learned to cope with his despair and to go through life a new way, seeking to make ordinary things extraordinary. Defying expectation, this remarkable artist continued to travel the world alone, learning to navigate life in a new and beautiful way. Through creative imagery and philosophical narration, director and composer Gary Tarn creates an expressionist, poetic meditation both on an extraordinary life without vision, and on the idea of perception in general.

Life in the Arts.

Landscape sculptor Andy Goldsworthy is renowned throughout the world for his work in ice, stone, leaves, wood. His own remarkable still photographs are Goldsworthy’s way of talking about his often ephemeral works made from elements of nature, of fixing them in time. The music was composed and performed by Fred Frith.
